![]() ![]() (Meanwhile, I have a query pending with Paragon support.) ![]() My current idea is to attempt to fix the MBR via the recovery console, but in the meantime thought it best to ask independent advice at Experts Exchange, which I signed up for nearly a year ago but have not used for an inquiry until now. Next, I tried to do a repair install of Xp but halfway throughthe process when Xp reboots, I get the above-captioned message. Then I used the recovery CD created through Partition Manager, and tried to undo pending operations and update the MBR but this didn't seem to have any effect. ![]() To get rid of this message and enable normal boot up, I have tried the following:įirst, I attempted to create the floppy disk the message called for from another machine for insertion via a USB floppy drive, but this operation kept failing. This occurs near the beginning of the boot process. I keep getting the above-captioned message ( 'Your disks were modified by Paragon Partition Engine.' Insert its boot diskette and press any key.'). The primary problem is that I can now longer boot up in Windows Xp on my Dell laptop as I I have copies elsewhere so this is not my concern here.Ģ. ![]() It appears I have lost all the data on the backup drive since the partitioning operations failed. Perhaps I should have let it continue, but I needed to do some work on my computer and had to exit the boot process by powering off. Then it seemed to hang for a long time indicating about 15 hours to complete. The partitioning proceeded normally until it was 99% done. For convenience, I switched the drive to my main laptop (Dell Inspiron 6400) on which I have the above software installed. Today I decided to partition a data drive (Western digital external 200 gb) which I was using as a backup for a Dell desktop running XP. I have a problem resulting from my use of Paragon Partition Manager 2005, a program I have used before without difficulty to resize/create new disk partitions. ![]()
